What is Help in the Home?

Help in the Home provides low cost domestic support to help people to continue to live independently. This includes help with cleaning, shopping and laundry.

                Where does Help in the Home operate?

The service operates in the Borough of Eastleigh, and in Southampton.

                Who can use the service?

The service is aimed at any adult over the age of 18 who require domestic help to remain independent at home. 

                How are people referred to the service?

Referrals can be made directly to the Service Co-ordinator, or through Health and Social Services. Click Here to contact the Service Co-ordinator.

                What does the service cost?

Eastleigh Community Services acts as an agency introducing domestic workers to clients and monitoring the service. The client pays the worker directly and the cost of the service is set annually by Hampshire County Council Social Services, who subsidise the service administration.

                About the domestic workers

The Help in the Home service registers domestic workers following a satisfactory interview and references. Domestic workers attend an induction session where their responsibilities are explained to them. Thereafter the client and worker communicate directly. The service provides 2000 hours of domestic support per month to approximately 400 users.
