What is the Sitting Service?

The Sitting Service provides respite for carers of older people and adults who have a disability. The sitters provide companionship and basic personal care, and participate in a range of pastimes. The service is registered and inspected by Hampshire County Council.

                Where does the Sitting Service operate?

The service operates in the Borough of Eastleigh.

                How are people referred to the service?

Referrals are normally made through Health & Social Services but can be made directly to the Home Support Services Manage. Click Here to contact the Home Support Services Manager.

                What does the service cost?

Clients complete a financial assessment form which is submitted to Hampshire County Council Social Services who assess the appropriate charge under their residential charging policy. 

                About the sitters

Sitters are employed by Eastleigh Community Services. They all have previous experience in a caring role and receive training in People Moving and Handling and in Basic First Aid. Click Here to register your interested in becoming a sitter. 

                Interesting facts

The Sitting Service provides 385 hours of service per month, comprising sits of two hours upwards, with a maximum of six hours per client per week.
